Advice to the Running Politician

Published by Dave at 9:36 pm under Minutiae

If you’re working a polling place, you may want to refrain from catching a smoke, dropping the butt on the ground, crushing it with your heel, and leaving it there. You may think nothing of it, but many of us see that and think “damn, that guy’s a pig” and cast our vote for the other guy.

Just a li’l heads-up for you.

Oh yeah, I sure as hell did. Julie met the guy on her way in to the polls yesterday morning, and decided to vote for him. Then on her way out she witnessed the event above. She called me - I hadn’t voted yet, as I had left the house at 6:20 a.m. to be at a crew call all the way down in North Royalton by 7 a.m. - and told me about it. Then she asked me to vote for the incumbent, to cancel her vote out, which I did when I made it to the polls at 6:20 last night. :D
