Hey, Yo
1976 is my favorite year. You know, if we’re doing the, “What’s your favorite year?” game. 1976 was the Bicentennial (U.S.) and the first year I visited Disneyland with my family. I was eight years old. Bruce Jenner was the greatest athlete in the world. But most significant, 1976 was the year of the original Rocky. I was the biggest Rocky fan in the world. It’s true. Bigger than you. I ran up the stairs. I drank a glass of raw eggs (just the one time). I played the Rocky theme off my 45 until the needle was but a nub. I saw Rocky like a millionteen times.
This afternoon we went to a matinee of Rocky Balboa. I was instantly whisked back to 1976. I was a kid again. One thing no one can deny. Sly Stallone was born to play Rocky Balboa. And he’s still got it. Do yourself a favor and go see Rocky Balboa. You won’t be disappointed and you might be just a little inspired. But take it from me, lay off the raw eggs.
Yep. Me too. Big Rocky fan. In 1976 I was thirteen and while I loved Bruce Jenner, Nadia Comanechi was the one I was inspired by at the Montreal Olympics.
I know a few people who have seen Rocky Balboa and they all agree that it’s well worth seeing.
Dave when do you and Jule want to go?
