Exercising a Right

Published by Dave under Minutiae

“Texas Republicans have worked overtime to make it harder for key Democratic voting groups to vote and be represented fairly. The redistricting games they’ve played are infamous. And for the Prairie View A&M University precincts, they put the early-polling place more than seven miles from the school.

So what did the students in this video do? They shut down the highway as they marched seven miles to cast their votes on the first day of early voting.”

Okay, there’s more to the story than that. Both sides of the aisle mess around with gerrymandering; the Dems are no more saints than the Republicans. The problem at PVU had more to do with the local county officials believing the students should be voting in their home counties rather than at school. Texas law says otherwise, but why should they let that stop them from making it difficult for those students to vote at an early-polling place?

All but unbearable

I’m watching “Medium” right now on NBC. If Patricia Arquette doesn’t win a Golden Globe for Worst Actress in a Lousy Drama, something is really wrong with the world. The worst part about the show (besides the goofy reluctant-psychic-solves-crime schtick) is the whininess of Arquette’s character. Tonight, they figured out a way to make her whinier; they made her deaf (Oh my God, I’m deaf! I can’t hear you! I love my girls! I love my husband! I know what happened to your daughter, but I can’t hear! Waaaaaah!). Oh my God, please, make this episode end.

Well, there was a post here.  I wanted to delete it. WordPress won’t let me. So here’s a picture of Riley and me playing in the snow.

Here’s an idea…

Published by Joe under Travel

See, we’re already booked on this cruise. Seven fun filled Caribbean ports of call: San Juan, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Dominica, Barbados, St. Lucia (where we were wed), Antigua and St. Kitts. So, so, all you have to do is plunk down like $650 per person plus $375 each for flights and you’re golden! And the best part is, it will probably all fit on your line of credit!Bad Idea Canucks We can share car rentals and you can hang out mostly in our balcony state room. It’s cheaper when you buy in bulk! So, what do you think?? Huh? Don’t make us cry :(
