Man Uses Bare Hands to Tear Out Other Man’s Throat

Published by Joe at 7:15 pm under Movies & Music

Tick off another box on Stallone’s bucket list: Rambo is an hour and a half of pure mayhem. I loved it. I just got back from the theater where I saw the flick with my younger brother, Matt. We both turned to look at each other, eyes wide and mouthing silent OMFGs, at least half a dozen times. It’s not for the faint of heart. The violence is over the top like nothing you’ve ever seen before. You’d have to set off a 40 lb. bomb (which he does) to kill as many people in as little time. Someone said they should have a kill counter like in a video game in the corner of the screen. That would be wicked. Lionsgate: take note for the DVD special features..

It was actually a refreshing break from what seems to be a disturbing trend in Hollywood recently: killing off the main character(s). Another disturbing trend is my rampant use of full colons. But seriously, at the very least, the last three movies (not including Rambo) I saw were depression fests where the main characters all die. This is my official review of Rambo: It’s a breath of fresh air.

Okay, so mark that one down as a movie I want to go see. That and National Treasure 2. It’s been months since we’ve gone to the movies.

So, you’re saying leave the kids at home, bring them with, not sure. Can’t believe Stallone is 9 years younger than my dad. Of course, my dad tends to lay off the HGH. Government job, don’t cha know.

National Treasure 2 was good also — Bruce Greenwood always makes a great president (see 13 Days)

Was one of those “Kill off the main Character” movies that you saw ‘I am Legend”?

I guess I can cross I am Legend off the list…

    DOH!

LOL. Yes, ‘I Am Legend’ is one of them. So is ‘Atonement’.

We cant wait for the inevitable “Directors Cut” of I Am Legend, or “alternative ending with the DVD. That ending seemed very tacked on.

‘Into the Wild’ had a happy ending too. The “I ate WHAT? AWWWW SHIT!!!” ending.

‘3:16 to Yuma’ falls into that category also.

You’re right Joe, they are killing off a lot of main characters these days.

Am I spoiling the movies for you all? Sorry.

‘3:10 to Yuma’! That’s the other one I was trying to remember! Thanks Jim.

Think the Joker will die in the Dark Knight this summer? Bet someone is rethinking that. I imagine Indiana Jones will find a way to survive. That Centrum Silver is amazing stuff.

Thanks for telling us about the main characters dying…I hate those movies. Seriously. I just spent a couple weeks reading a series of books. Half way through the third book (there are 4 books) a main character gets killed. I’ve invested waaaay too much of my time for a main character to be suddenly get shot in the head. Pissed me off enough that I just stopped reading the books. I skimmed the rest and read the ending. I swear I have never done that before.

Yeah, yeah it is reality blah blah!!!! I LIVE reality, that is NOT why I go to the movies.

    Okay, I’m fine now.

Speaking of going postal….yeeeee-ikes. Save me from the perturbed redhead. Nice to know she lives reality.
Marianne cried for weeks when Big Tom died in Tommy Boy.

New Bond movie probably won’t kill anyone important. Cool premise– it takes place one hour after the end of Casino Royale.
