Sorry, can't do it. We have a house reserved on Hilton Head for a week of loafing by the pool enjoying drinks with little umbrellas and fruit impaled on tiny swords. That'll pretty much kill the vacation budget for the year.

Other Jim is fun. So is Original Jim. I'd be happy to bring them. They come with wives and a total of five children; we'd have to switch to a Disney ship, wouldn't we?

LOL @ Jack.

I laugh at the Bad Idea Bears pic every time I see it!

Talked to Shmoopy on the way to Mass tonight and told him what I said about never going on Carnival again.

He waits a beat and goes, "Well can I just go with Joe and Diana???"

Good to know they have improved. I don't think the rooms are that important because you really just sleep there.

Do you need an in-cabin bartender, who would require no more than floor space at night and perhaps a small stipend? I can get a tux and a very small table for the balcony. And I won't talk. Much. Maybe a little.

Okay, still under consideration. Wouldn't you know it; the oven is acting up now. Damn appliances, starting to crap out after only 17 years.

If there were days at sea I would say definitely upgrade to ocean view/balcony. We did indeed book a balcony stateroom. What we did was purchase a guaranteed balcony. What happens then is they upgrade you based on occupancy. The sooner you book the higher up on the list you are to receive an upgrade. You could do a guaranteed inside cabin in the hopes of upgrading. In the end, with the ship always being in port, I don't think having an inside cabin would be the end of the world. If it's the difference between making the trip or not it's an obvious choice. In the late evenings, we could all gather in our stateroom and sit out on the balcony sipping wine or drinking margaritas.

As far as the cruise booking up, of course it may. This cruise is cheaper though because it's less likely to book up being shoulder season. If you book through Travelocity and use a Mastercard to do so, you get on board ship credits. I think around $50 to $100 per cabin if I recall.

We're planning to fly out the day after the cruise ends. Mostly because the flights work better for us but also to have that extra day in San Juan. We hear Puerto Rico is a great island to visit too.

We probably will need very little money for our week in Disney in June, right? Will the inflatable princess beds fit on the floor of the state room for the twins? Do they have anything available in steerage? I guess the boy could help row.
I had you all coming to help me put rock under my deck that week. So what's up with that. Don't even tell me you don't remember. I guess that's how you roll.

Sounds great, actually-- but between the Magic Kingdom in June and Hilton Head in August, we are fresh out of vacation funds. Unless my "tax rebate" arrives soon, so I can commence to poking the big scary recession monster with a stick. Sorry, I meant "recession." No words to describe this -- everyone in Washington seems to be a blind, buck toothed dick.

Don't forget your 2 way radios, and buy me some cigars of questionable legality.

Okay, we're seriously considering this. Do these boats fill up? And how lousy is it to be in an interior cabin? Is it worth the upgrade cost to go oceanview or balcony? Did you really get a balcony stateroom?

Diana was on a Carnival cruise way back when too. Everyone we have spoken to says Carnival has come a long long way. Plus, this particular cruise is in port every single day. There are no days at sea. Some vows are meant to be broken.

I would fly in whatever makes the most sense. You can easily fly in on the cruise days. For embarkation, you can board between 2PM and 9PM on the day of and for flights out they suggest you'll be fine if your flight leaves after 12PM. Others say they have been fine with earlier departures.
