It’s Simply Amazing
by Dave on Feb.24, 2009, under Minutiae
…to have a President who’s an erudite man of principal. “The United States of America does not torture.” Period. No equivocation. No asinine snicker.
I’m proud to be an American again.
Then I watched Bobby Jindal’s rebuttal. While it was nice of him to acknowledge that Republicans have spent the last eight years acting like drunken retarded two-year olds, it’s asking way too much to expect us all to accept that they’re ready to think about acting like sober adults again. Sorry, Bobby. Nice try.
Families of 9/11 Victims Advocate Dies in Plane Crash
by Joe on Feb.14, 2009, under Minutiae
This almost sounds like a headline from The Onion. I mean what are the odds that Beverly Eckert, a woman who became a voice for the families of 9/11 victims after her own husband was killed in the 9/11 attacks, herself dies in a plane crash.
This is not to make light of the situation. Tragedies abound here. Her story is heart wrenching, please read it. I was browsing the headlines on the NY Times as I frequently do and the link caught me eye. I read the first few lines of the article and the first thought that struck me was, what are the freakin’ odds of this woman whose husband died after terrorists crashed a plane into each of the twin towers, dies in a plane crash some eight years later. Seriously. Death by plane? Both of them?
Isn’t that bizarre?
Creators of Lost must be laughing
by jackie on Feb.08, 2009, under Minutiae
Any Lost fans here? I was thinking about the show yesterday and had a lightbulb moment. I thought, I remember seeing the movie Lost Horizon as a kid. Could it be that simple? Is the whole show just an updated version of Lost Horizon – right down to using a shortened version of the title? Are the creators laughing at all the theories and going “how much more OBVIOUS do we have to make it?”
