Help Design BP’s new logo!

Yep, right here. Plenty of creativity already there, but go on and share your ideas!

I like the one with the oil motif.
I would imagine a lot of station owners are getting royally screwed about now as people “boycott” BP, which owns none of its gas stations. Worse? BP is about to start selling the oil collected from the gulf. Just…..seems….wrong. Since Exxon got off so easy financially (and that was from a friggin boat), let’s hope that doesn’t happen again.

  2. Dave says:

Another reason not to bother boycotting BP stations: BP doesn’t sell their gas only to their branded stations. You never really know for sure who’s gas you’re buying. Also, it’s not as if gasoline is the only thing BP crude goes into anyway.

  3. Dave says:

Oh, bullshit. There are nearly 4,000 oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico alone. Stop listening to all the fucking idiot Palin-Americans.
Here’s a handy map for you: (source: the nefarious lying commielibrulfascists at the NOAA)
No matter how many wells we sink into our coastal waters, we aren’t going to get anywhere near weaning ourselves off foreign oil, especially if we say “well shit, we’re not going to be off oil for a century, so why bother.” And…oh yeah…it’d take a decade to get any appreciable number of wells up and running. In a hurricane zone. With an already decimated shoreline.

  4. Other Jim says:

Yes….that would be everything else we use on a daily basis. I believe at this point weaning completely from our use of oil will take 100 years. Now if only those rigs weren’t in such deep water…..but hey! That’s where the oil is that we give access to drill around here.

  5. Other Jim says:

Hmm. We were saying……the same thing……just….my sarcasm didn’t translate well in text…..the “but hey!” was supposed to signal that. Sadly, it did not. Maybe quotes around it next time…..ANYWAY, have seen that map everywhere on the news; seems like you could slalom a speed boat through the platforms. Also read a great article on engineering concepts of “mostly working” vs. “never failing”…guess which one Big Oil uses, since catastrophic events happen so rarely.

  6. Dave says:

‘Tis hard to tell sometimes. Perhaps a ;) would’ve avoided the miscommunication.

    :p

8>). And why is the timestamp on posts so far off? Don’t really care that much, just wondering.

P.S. Friends of ours just lost a week at Destin Beach, AND their vacation insurance was useless due to this not being an act of God. With 1000′s of families in the same situation, it can’t be long before lawyers jump all over that. Guess we’ll see how hard they want to push it.

  8. Dave says:

Oh fantastic. Guess I’ll make sure to book all vacations far from the reach of any giant multinational corporation.

Timestamps are off? By how much?

  9. Other Jim says:

My post today stamped at 4:00pm was probably submitted at 6:30pm.

  10. Other Jim says:

That last one was fine……no idea

  11. Dave says:

We can change the timestamp settings, and they were set to UTC -7. That’s not us, that’s Mountain Time.

  12. Grandma says:

I just love those logos! very appropriate!
and…. you two guys are a riot!
